Eddie Poon’s Story
Eddie Poon only attended school for two weeks during his childhood; the rest of his time was spent helping at his family’s restaurant. Later, he and his brother ran a takeaway business together. As an adult, Eddie became addicted to gambling. In his early thirties, he accumulated massive debt from gambling with credit cards and faced relentless demands from banks for repayment, plunging his life into crisis. His wife discovered his gambling problem when she received bank statements showing his debts.
A sudden, unexpected event occurred in their family, prompting them to seek help from a church, where they were introduced to the Christian faith. Through a series of events, Eddie came into contact with the Gospel Gambling Rehabilitation Center and began receiving faith-based support to overcome his gambling addiction.
The power of faith helped Eddie quit gambling and re-prioritize his family and spiritual life. He and his wife actively participated in church activities, regularly attending Bible study and prayer sessions. They even opened their home to host Bible study groups. Eddie shared that his faith has brought him inner peace and contentment. He no longer craves wealth, values his family relationships, and has adopted a more positive outlook on life.
Through these transformations, Eddie has shed his former identity as a gambler and become someone who cherishes his family and his faith.
