Eddie Poon’s Story
After moving to the UK, Mr. Pan only attended school for two weeks. The rest of his time was spent helping out at his family’s restaurant. Later, he started running his own takeaway shop, but in adulthood, he became addicted to gambling. In his thirties, he accumulated massive credit card debt due to gambling and was pursued by banks for repayment, leading to a life crisis. His wife discovered his gambling problem after receiving bank statements.
Later, their family faced an unexpected situation, prompting them to seek help from a church and explore the Christian faith. By chance, they came into contact with The Christian Centre for Gambling Rehabilitation, where Mr. Pan began receiving help to quit gambling.
Through the power of faith, Mr. Pan successfully gave up gambling and began to prioritize his family and spiritual life. He and his wife participated in church activities, regularly engaged in Bible study and prayer, and even opened their home for Bible study gatherings. Mr. Pan shared that faith has brought him inner peace and contentment. He no longer covets money, values his family relationships, and has developed a more positive outlook on life. Through these changes, he gradually shed his identity as a gambler and became someone who values both family and faith.
